From the iron railing at the end of Pearl Street, you have an excellent view across Grace Street of (right to left).


1415 Diamond Hill Baptist Church (1887-88):

Gothic Revival, with fine patterned brickwork by Brother Lewis Bolling, a member of the church. Most of the construction was by black craftsmen. Like many other black churches, this congregation was organized during the first decade after the Civil War, in 1872.


1421 Diamond Hill Fire Station (1883):
Designed by architect August Forsburg, this fine old fire station is now owned by the Diamond Hill Baptist Church.

1503 Grace Lodge (1921):
An excellent example of adaptive reuse, this retirement home was built as the Marshall Lodge Memorial Hospital.
